11:03 PMWelcome back to my blog! I would like to thank those who have consistently encouraged me to keep writing, and those who have faithfully read my posts over the past few weeks. I love you, Mom. In all seriousness, as the semester for my college writing course draws to a close, I would like to offer you a behind-the-scenes look at my analytical writing process and how this semester has impacted me personally. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this sneak peek into my mind. When I first began the course, I was not sure how to construct an analytical paper because I had never written one before. I had a hard time breaking away from the traditional thesis paper format, and I learned early on that there is not just one way of building an effective thesis statement. Separating myself from traditional writing styles helped me grow as a writer and develop my own, unique style of analytical writing. The further along I got in the course, the more I was challenged with finding a new approach. Learning new concepts and writing techniques, such as utilizing the Aristotelian Appeals: Pathos, Ethos, and Logos when analyzing a work of art, also helped to further develop my personal writing style. Part of my growth over the semester included realizing and understanding my weaknesses. At the beginning of the course, I quickly realized that I had start looking at objects in my everyday life analytically. I had to alter my entire way of thinking because everything we see and everyone we come in contact with offers a different perspective, but only if you choose to look deeper than what is portrayed on the surface. Throughout this blog, my main objective has been to offer you an escape. I sought to invite you into my world, into my mind, and help you see life through a new point-of-view. While I wanted to share my thought process with you, getting you to believe and see life the same way I do was not my intention. My main purpose for sharing my perspective is so that you, too, may also choose to state your opinion. This blog was meant to foster an exchange of ideas, so that we may experience together a more vibrant, diverse outlook on life--colored by various opinions and perspectives. Think: If people were afraid to exchange ideas and opinions, the world would not be the melting pot of diverse cultures that it is today. Rather it would be a revolving mass of individual sectors, and if history has proven anything it is that countries need each other to evolve and reach their full potential. America is one major example of how powerful a nation can be when the exchange of new ideas and opinions is embraced. I want my blog to serve the same purpose, in which you take the perspective I offer through my analysis of various works and constitute your own point-of-view. In this way, we will create a place where an exchange of ideas is celebrated, rather than feared. Just some food for thought. The pictures below represent my my various mental states over the course of the semester. Not due to this specific course, but rather life in general.
